Barbara Kelly, MSSW, is a certified life coach who studied with Margaret McCraw, PhD., of Behavioral Healthcare Consulting. She is currently in the process of completing the Master Life Coach and Holistic Healthcare Practitioner certification. Over the past 22 years, she has worked in the areas of nonprofit management, public relations, housing/homelessness, mental healthcare and crisis counseling. Barbara is an owner of Life Gardeners, a holistic healthcare and counseling practice in Austin, Texas. Through Life Gardeners, she offers Life Coaching, Reiki and Astrological counseling services to meet the clients’ desires to release negative energy patterns and approach life using the law of attraction.
Barbara decided to pursue life coaching when she realized that traditional treatments for mental illness frequently do not address the spiritual dimension of illness. Much of treatment focuses on medication, behavioral modification, and alleviating stressors related to job loss, homelessness, and a lack of resources. People with mental illness who do enjoy recovery and thrive have hope, a belief in their own ability to heal, relationships that encourage their recovery, and a spiritual practice that enables them to trust their own inner guidance and have faith in themselves.
While she first read about the Law of Attraction, she realized that she had been using both unconscious and conscious manifestation for her entire life. What was exciting about finding confirmation in the work of Abraham-Hicks was the systematic application of the Law of Attraction and real-life exercises that help people consciously manifest their desires while letting go of attempts to control situations or other people through force, manipulation or judgments.
As she entered this latest phase in her professional development, she began to experience the wonder of attracting the mentor she sought in Margaret McCraw, the marketing assistance of Suzan Schmitt, and countless other miracles along the way. Barbara is excited to begin sharing not only her life experiences using the Law of Attraction, but to help others begin to live lives that are filled with the same magic and joy she experiences daily. Her background in working with people who have severe symptoms of mental illness and in emergency room social work, enabled her to use her own faith in the ability of people to heal to give hope to those she encountered.
In addition to Life Coaching, Barbara also offers Reiki Attunements and Astrological Consultation. Barbara received her Reiki II certification in 2003, when she was encouraged by a friend with cancer to put her “healing hands” to use. Reiki utilized the healing energy of the universe by enlivening the client’s own healing powers. Reiki used with principles of the Law of Attraction is a powerful combination for healing from physical and emotional wounds.
Barbara uses Astrology to help clients unlock their potential in relationships and in their career. Rather than give dire predictions of the future, Barbara uses astrology to work with a client to make choices that are in concert with the lessons they have chosen to learn in this lifetime. Much of the negativity in a chart is actually an opportunity for growth. Astrology offers another tool in personal and spiritual development. Barbara has studied and utilized astrology for over 24 years.
